In its latest circular, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) advised all its students to prepare for Board Exam 2020 based on the content indicated in the syllabus of CBSE and not as in books of NCERT. CBSE still prescribes NCERT books for classes 9th to 12th, but it has been noted by the board that for certain particular contents or sections of these books it is stated that the information given is not for review or assessment purposes.
However, in its notice, the board made it clear that this information listed in the NCERT books does not extend to CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 students. Class 10 and Class 12 syllabus issued by CBSE for the current academic year, 2019-2020, are specifically advised to students.
CBSE’s circular advised all participants to follow the instructions for board exams, stating, “Exams / assessments will be carried out on the basis of the syllabus issued by CBSE and not as laid out in NCERT Books. Both teachers, students and parents are usually told of this knowledge so that they can make preparations accordingly.
